Do you feel that you can ask your employer for a pay rise in the current economic environment?

Much conversation has been had in recent months about the desire for pay increase among Australians.

The results of our last survey revealed that 89% of Australian workers surveyed believe that they did deserve a pay increase.

Whether it was the projected belief that interest may rise, bringing with it the increased cost of living, views related to the need for an increase in the minimum wage, or perhaps workers believed that they weren’t being paid enough for their output, it was clear that majority of Australian workers surveyed believed they deserved a pay increase.

The Australian workers may feel that they deserve one, but do they feel that they can ask their employers for one?

So, we took it to the Australian workers and asked:

“Do you feel that you can ask your employer for a pay rise in the current economic environment?”

A staggering 74% of respondents said ‘no’, they did not believe they could ask their employer for a pay rise in the current economic environment.

Leaving a mere 26% to believe that they could ask their employer for a pay rise.

“Why do only 26% of Aus Workers think they can ask their employer for a pay rise when 89% think they deserve one?”

When we examine this staggering statistic, many thoughts come to mind.

Why is it that the Australian worker believes they cannot ask their employer for a pay rise in the current economic environment, even if they believe they deserve one?
